Great opportunities for children and adults to get creative and learn new skills. No need to book and they are free! Just come along and get stuck in!
Wednesday 27th May THROWING POTS ON THE WHEEL 10.30 – 4.00pm
Join ceramic artist in residence James Hobbs and Creative Arts students for a fun filled and interactive pottery workshop. Come and have a go at using our Shimpo- potter’s wheels to create your very own thrown pot. Learn how to center and pull up the walls of the clay to make your own individual piece. Work can be collected at a later date once it has been fired. Suitable for absolute beginners and all ages – 10.30, 11.30, 1.30, 2.30, 3.30 drop-in sessions
Thursday 28th May RE-CYCLED FRAME WORKSHOP 10.30 – 4.00pm
Join Gabriella Fitch, BA (Hons) Creative Arts student and create your own paper dolls. An opportunity to design and construct a paper doll character of your choice. Explore different ways of drawing characteristics and design your doll’s clothes. Suitable for all ages drop–inFriday 29th May ORIGAMI BIRD WORKSHOP 10.30 – 4.00pm
Join Anne Hobbs, BA (Hons) Creative Arts student and make your own origami bird. An opportunity to learn more about migratory birds and their amazing 4000 mile journeys from the UK to Africa. The sound of a female cuckoo is likened to ‘bathwater gurgling down the plughole’, but when did you last hear a cuckoo? Find out more about bird tracking and see where Chris the cuckoo is now. 8+ Drop inSaturday 30th May TOTE BAG DESIGN 10.30 – 4.00pm
Join BA (Hons) student Keturah Jones, design and create your own tote bag to take away with you. Learn new skills, or extend existing ones. Choose a fabric and design, colour, embellish and transform it into a bag. Suitable for all ages drop–inSaturday 6th June ROLLER PRINTING WORKSHOP 10.30 – 4.00pm
Anther extravaganza of print with Stephen Fowler. A collaborative workshop creating motifs on rollers to create a giant artwork that will be made into books and zines. Drop in – all age groups.
