A Local Food Web

A while ago we were asked to create a ‘Nature Hub’ in a disused phone box in a North Oxfordshire village.  This presented an opportunity to give new life to one of Britain’s most iconic pieces of street furniture as well as creating a space for locals to record sightings of the wildlife they see in and around the village.

This rudimentary food web is a way of creating some sort of meaning out of sightings, recorded over a two year period, by illustrating how species interact and depend upon each other and upon humans.  We hope that by developing this idea and focussing upon the detail of local plant and animal life, people will feel increasingly connected to the wildlife living alongside them.
